Become a School Bus or School Van Driver!
PA Requirements to be a School Bus Driver
- At least 18 years of age or older
- Pass a school bus physical
- Complete a minimum of 20 hours of classroom and Behind the Wheel training
- Pass knowledge tests in CDL General Knowledge, Passenger Endorsement, School Bus Endorsement, and Air Brakes
- Pass a Road Test to demonstrate working knowledge of skills
Training Provided
Woodridge Transit has trainers who will work with you to get your CDL with S & P Endorsements and Air Brakes.
Application and Employment Time Line
Once the preliminary background checks and application are cleared, a conditional offer of employment will be made. Upon acceptance, the rest of the background checks and paperwork will be completed. Training will be scheduled for new school bus drivers & van drivers. Depending on time and commitment, the process will take 3-4 weeks. It is imperative that anyone considering driving a school bus start the process as early as possible.
